the joys of nature treasures

My family revels in the wonder of coming across something poignant and unexpected, an adventure that requires open eyes and spirit, as I explore here:

Searching for Nature Treasures

The wilds restore my heart.
Spongy green mosses and
ephemeral pools of bubbly

algal bloom or wriggling
tadpoles, the peepers providing
background music. A quest

ever at the back of my mind
and crevice of vision: to spy
an amazing nature treasure –

an antler, a turtle shell, bones,
an owl pellet, or other secret
delight. Yesterday it was a snail

shell. Sometimes there are feathers
or, in just the right place, a whelk
or a sand dollar. I still hope for an

elusive and fragile scotch bonnet,
entire rather than partial, the whole-
ness I seek to behold in myself.
