CELEBRATING

the release of her first volume of poetry,
Wood-Solace, or a Return to Belonging

About the Book

When Lisa discovered Plants and Poetry, and editor Jamie Nix received Wood-Solace in its early chapbook form, the two knew they had found kindred spirits. As they explored possibilities together, Wood-Solace quickly became a full-length book with Lisa’s photography accompanying her poems.

The title piece conveys Lisa’s philosophy and theology of the healing power of place, a central theme of her words and images. Lisa grew up in the North Carolina piedmont, between the mountains and the beach, and identifies strongly with verdant, forested ecosystems. Familiar flora and fauna bring the comfort and soothing that she so aptly names wood-solace.
